DPI Computing Society Wins National Hackathon Championship 2026

A Proud Milestone for Dhaka Polytechnic Institute

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Team PolyInnovate, representing Dhaka Polytechnic Institute Computing Society (DPICS), has secured Champion (1st Place) at the prestigious National Student Innovation Hackathon 2026!

Over the course of an intense 36-hour sprint, our team competed against 64 finalist teams from top engineering universities and polytechnics across the country.

The Winning Solution: AgriSense AI

The theme of this year's hackathon was Sustainable Technological Solutions for Emerging Economies. Our team built AgriSense AI, an offline-first IoT and edge computer vision solution tailored for rural Bangladeshi farmers.

Key Capabilities:

  • Offline Plant Disease Diagnosis: Running an optimized MobileNet-V3 quantization model on Raspberry Pi 5 to detect paddy blast and potato blight without requiring an internet connection.
  • SMS & Voice Automated Alerts: When disease thresholds are detected, localized Bengali voice alerts are sent via GSM module to registered farmers.
  • Solar-Powered Mesh Node: Low-power consumption node lasting up to 14 days on a single lithium phosphate charge.
